Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I hope that this update finds you all healthy and doing as well as you can under the current circumstances. This has been a challenging time for us all, and the coming weeks will certainly be bumpy going ahead. I do not have all the answers, but can assure you that this learning curve is one that I will be here to support you and your child in whatever way I can.
As you know, our schools will continue with your child's education through "distance learning." I do not have any specifics at this time as to what this will look like. My team and I are going to be doing training in the coming days to prepare to implement studies online. I do want to ease some anxiety, I am not expecting things to be perfect or even smooth. But we will get there together.
I want to encourage everyone to be reading their independent books for a minimum of 20 minutes a day. I also wish to see students continue to utilize Lexia daily and to be practicing their math facts either with flashcards or xtramath as well. An additional resource to support reading comprehension is readworks.com. Students who can access their google accounts are able to utilize this platform. Below are some instructions on how to use their google accounts to do this:1. Have students go to www.readworks.org/student
2. Students should sign in with their Google account. (If this information is not something you currently have please let me know and I will send you more information in the coming days.)
3. Students enter class code ZCQJQM
Please stay tuned in the coming days leading up to our anticipated launch date of "distance learning." In the meantime, try to enjoy the extra time being spent together as a family and take advantage of the nice weather predicted for this week. Take things one day at a time, this will pass.
In partnership,
Emily Salvatore
